Cailin C E Mackenzie

Cailin C E Mackenzie PhD has public speaking experience gained from making political speeches at demonstrations, representative speeches before the United Nations and the European Parliament, lobbying government officials and Ministers, and campaigning generally on a variety of issues. She has also delivered papers and speeches to political, activist and academic conferences. She has distilled this experience into training intended for anyone who needs to speak before an audience whether it be a crowd at a demonstration, an academic conference, a work meeting or a single politician. The training approach is practical and inclusive and designed to the specific needs and requests of the individual or organisation.

Cailin trained as a barrister and has a PhD in law. She has practical and academic expertise in the field of human rights having worked as the Human Rights and Information Officer for the International Federation of Journalists, taught law at the University of Hull and Birzeit University, and written a PhD dealing with the prohibition of the corporal punishment of children under international human rights law. She has provided training on international law, in particular children's rights, to non lawyers for whom an understanding of international law is crucial to their efficient working and effective communication.

Cailin's experience in the fields of law, human rights campaigning, and academic research led to the creation of MIMAT training which has two strands, the first relating to the development of advocacy strategies and the second to training in public speaking skills ranging from the delivery of a written paper, through lobbying and briefings, to dealing with hostile questioning.

She is a mother-tongue English speaker who speaks fluent French and Dutch, and is based in Brussels.
